The first mechanics' meetup in the Hanover region is over. From 20 to 22 May 2011, motorhome owners got together for a weekend in Steinhude to exchange experiences, ideas, DIY projects and much more.
The first participants arrived as early as Friday lunchtime. We had booked and reserved the pitches in advance, so a large area was cordoned off for us. As more people came than we had originally planned, we simply extended the area a little. Most of the participants trickled in over the course of Friday. It was a very mixed group, with ages ranging from 7 to sixty-something.
In the evening we had a barbecue together. Everyone simply put something on the table, and the result was a big, wonderful buffet. After dinner, homemade marzipan liqueur and strawberry lime liqueur helped to get everyone in the mood.
There was no pressure and no obligation at the meetup – everyone could do whatever they liked. On Saturday some went for a stroll through Steinhude, others cycled around Lake Steinhude (34 km), and others just lay in the sun. The best thing about the meetup was that everyone was happy to show their vehicle inside and out, so we were able to collect lots of ideas.
Some things were even installed on the spot. Udo, for example, took the opportunity to fit his new SOG toilet ventilation system straight away.
The first mechanics' meetup in the Hanover region was great fun for all of us, and it certainly won't be the last. We got to know lots of nice and interesting people that weekend.
Thank you all for coming and for turning the meetup into such a great experience.
