€6.50 per night (our price in 2010 – per day, up to 6 hours €3.50; electricity €2 per day, waste disposal free)
Right on the lovely bank of the Main with a view of the vineyards; the old town is a few minutes' walk away. Kneipp water-treading pool next door, adventure playground 200 m. Our first forum meet-up took place here in 2010.
€19 per night (now €19 (off-season €12) plus €3 per person and tourist tax, electricity €4)
Right on the ski slope with a lovely view. The hotel's ski cellar can be used free of charge.
€10 per night (our price in 2020 – now €18.50 incl. electricity and tourist tax)
Stopover on the way back from Croatia, Heubergstraße 1. Nice site right next to the thermal baths, but very crowded – we got the last pitch in a back corner. There are no toilets or showers on site. Payment at the machine.
€10 per night (overflow area in 2020 incl. service point – regular pitch now €16 plus electricity €1/kWh)
Öschweg 6. The regular site was fully booked, so we stayed on the overflow area opposite in the thermal baths car park – no electricity or Wi-Fi there. Showers for €2 in the baths. The overflow area was noisy and restless because many lorries turn and unload there; the regular site, on the other hand, is nice. Ulm city centre is quickly reached by bike. Be sure to arrive early.
€6 per night (our price in 2023 – incl. unlimited electricity)
Separate area in the car park right by the spa grounds, service point available. Plenty of space; a trailer costs nothing extra. Beautiful rose-lined path to the thermal baths entrance.
€13 per night (our price in 2011 – incl. electricity, water and waste disposal)
Right on the bank of the Dahme in Köpenick with its many woods and lakes. Small boat harbour with slipway, marina restaurant, boat hire and barbecue area.
€10 per night (our price in 2013 – €10 to €21 depending on vehicle size and season)
Booked in advance; if you arrive after 6 p.m. you get the gate code beforehand. Very quiet location.
€62 per night (our price in 2026 – 2 people)
Known as luxury camping from the TV show "Camping Check". Well kept and spacious, pitch right by the excellent pool area, ultra-modern washroom and very friendly staff. Reception only opens at 2 p.m.; the castle is hardly visible from the site.
From the report: By motorhome to the Baltic Sea, Elbe, and Harz Show on map
€33 per night (now €33 (off-season €25), 2 adults included)
Great location right on the water and excellent facilities.
From the report: By motorhome to the Baltic Sea, Elbe, and Harz Show on map
€10 per night (our price in 2010 – incl. waste disposal, water €1 per 100 litres)
Quiet, close to the city yet green, about 100 m from the Weser. Inside the low-emission zone, but access is permitted without a sticker (via Hemelingen, signposted). Satellite reception hardly possible because of the trees. Ferry across the Weser and 900 m to the centre.
€10 per night (our price in 2012, electricity via coin meter)
Very central, right by the double lock and the Weser, slightly lower and therefore sheltered from the wind, around 60 paved pitches separated by hedges. Clean washroom (5 min of hot water 50 cents, €20 key deposit), electricity via coin meter, bread roll service.
€20 per night
Super Platz um Bremerhaven zu besuchen
€19 per night (our price in 2012 – €10 pitch plus €9 electricity and service point (always both))
On Grüner Deich, only two S-Bahn stops from the Binnenalster – ideal base, S-Bahn 5 minutes away. Between two main roads and below the S-Bahn line, but the pitches in the middle are quiet. Guarded around the clock and fenced. Tip: group day ticket for up to 5 people.
€5 per night (our price in 2012 – at the parking meter, coins only)
Between the Werra and a side arm, grass or gravel, electricity via coin meter. Bring change – the machine doesn't take notes. Aldi, Rewe and OBI about 500 m, bakery 250 m, Werratal thermal baths 5 to 10 minutes on foot (cheaper with the spa card).
€28.50 per night (our price in 2020 – incl. electricity)
Lovely, quiet site with a view of the Rhine, not far from Mainz city centre. Very friendly owners, small camping shop.
€10 per night (our price in 2009 – summer price incl. service point, electricity €2 extra)
Paved car park with a separate motorhome area, plus an adjoining meadow.
€7 per night (our price in 2010 – incl. waste disposal and tourist tax)
Right in the centre by the little river Gande yet very quiet, over a small bridge into town. Electricity via coin meter. A bakery van comes to the site at 8:30 a.m.
€13 per night (according to a site directory (date unclear), electricity 16 A, free Wi-Fi)
On the Weser near Bodenwerder: several washrooms, kiosk, small outdoor pool, slipway and jetty – ideal if you have a boat.
€11 per night (our price in 2010 – motorhome and 2 adults, electricity €2 extra)
Our favourite site on the Elbe, about 5 km from Winsen: well-kept campsite with its own motorhome area in front of the dyke right on the water, no marked pitches. Marina with slipway, shop, small lake and great restaurant. This is where we christened our boats.
€18 per night
€6.50 per night (our price in 2010 – without electricity; electricity €0.60 per kWh, fresh water and disposal €1 each)
ProMobil top site in the Weser Uplands: large meadow in front of the campsite for 80 to 100 motorhomes, no fixed layout. Supermarket right next door, indoor and outdoor pool adjoining, 5 minutes over the bridge into town. Very clean, bread roll and newspaper service. One of our favourite sites, which we visit often.
free of charge (as of 2011)
Overnight stay in the large car park of the shopping centre – pleasantly quiet.
free of charge (as of 2011 – electricity €1 for 8 hours, water €1)
Right by the park and close to the Oker, 16 pitches, lovely idyllic entrance – the signs are easy to miss. Less than 5 minutes' walk to the Okercabana beach bar.
free of charge (as of 2011 – fresh water €1)
On the main road but set back a little and therefore quiet. Waste disposal free. Overnight stays are not allowed in the film animal park car park (dogs roam freely there at night).
€9 per night (our price in 2011 – incl. waste disposal, water €1 per 100 litres, electricity €0.50 per kWh)
Award-winning top site right by the Eiswiese thermal baths, away from the normal car parks. 28 generous, nicely laid-out pitches with electricity, surrounded by meadows and green spaces. Service point easy to use even with large motorhomes.
free of charge (as of 2013 – max. 3 days; water €2 per 100 l, disposal €2, electricity €0.50 per kWh)
Very idyllic on an enclosed site with firm lanes and grass pitches on the Weser, between Porta Westfalica and Hameln. A limited number of coin-operated electricity posts. When it gets full, many move to the adjoining meadow – arriving early pays off. We stayed here in 2011 and 2013.
€7.50 per night (our price in 2011 – electricity €3 per day)
Top site open all year for 180 motorhomes, 60 electricity hook-ups, about 5 minutes' walk to the Steinhuder Meer and the promenade. Very clean washroom with showers, toilets, washing machines and dryers for site guests only. Repeat factor 100% – we stayed here in 2011 and 2018.
€10 per night (our price in 2011 – incl. electricity)
Open all year, 45 tarmac pitches right by the historic harbour basin with a great backdrop, central and quiet. Gas service, toilet and shower. The very friendly warden collects the fee at your motorhome and has lots of tips and free maps. Bread rolls and newspapers at the harbour kiosk (200 m). By scooter to Leer.
€5 per night (our price in 2011 – without electricity, electricity via coin meter)
Wonderful view of the Weser and the passing ships. Supermarket, DIY store and electronics shop right behind the site, over the bridge straight into the old town. A place we keep coming back to.
€9 per night (our price in 2011 – electricity €0.50 per kWh, waste disposal free)
Lovely motorhome site right by the park below Bentheim Castle.
€8 per night (our price in 2012 – 1 night €8, from 2 nights €7, from 3 nights €6; electricity €2 for 16 hours)
Idyllic on the edge of the forest right by the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve, around 20 pitches on several levels among trees (check satellite reception first), also for large vehicles. About 3 km to the A7 – good for stopovers. Aquadies natural pool and barefoot park right next door, free heath shuttle bus from the church. Electricity only with €2 coins. The bakery van comes at 8 a.m. – unfortunately honking loudly, even on Sundays. We stayed here in 2012 and 2016.
€8 per night (our price in 2012 – at the parking meter, electricity €1 for 8 hours, waste disposal free)
Right on the Weser, only 5 minutes' walk to the centre of the Pied Piper town with its pedestrian zone, town hall with carillon and shopping centre. Lovely Christmas market at Christmas time.
€5 per night (our price in 2012 – electricity via coin meter)
On the "green island" between the rivers, where the Werra and Fulda become the Weser. Very quiet, suitable for large vehicles, only 5 minutes' walk over the bridge to the historic old town.
free of charge (as of 2012 – electricity via coin meter)
Our fallback because the Lüneburg site with over 40 pitches was full. Right by the sports ground. The Lüneburg salt-water baths are highly recommended.
free of charge (as of 2013)
On Hafenstraße, only about 400 m from the old town with its half-timbered houses. The large area is also used as a car park and is busy at weekends.
€5 per night (our price in 2014 – incl. electricity, service point extra)
16 generous pitches (9 paved, 7 grass), also for large vehicles, about 15 minutes' walk to the town centre. Outdoor pool next door. Some car traffic at times, as an indoor play centre can only be reached via the site.
Marina on a gravel-pit lake up to 20 m deep on the Weser – ideal with a boat, which we took all the way to Bremen. Manoeuvring long rigs is tight when the car park is full. Very nice, helpful warden. Book by phone.
€8 per night
€5 per night (our price in 2018 – paid by envelope in the letterbox)
On the high plateau near Bodenwerder with a village shop. Barbecue area with grill, boules pitch with balls for everyone, electricity at posts, modern service point. Note: during our visit tractors passed constantly, on Sunday from 6:30 a.m.

About 5 km from Ganderkesee right on a lake, very easy to book online. Electricity and water at the pitch, top washrooms (showers with cash card), large restaurant, small shop with bread roll service. Recommended without reservation – except that there were many groups and mobile reception is extremely poor (Telekom, O2 and Vodafone). Trips to Oldenburg and Bremen.
€28 per night (now about €16 pitch + €6 per person, electricity included)
A weekend with friends in August: the site pulled out all the stops to make life sweet for us – relaxing, coffee with the best view in the morning, holiday feeling from the very first second.
€20 per night
Front-row pitch right in front of the Wadden Sea – an absolute bullseye, with the tides live from the motorhome. Central location, short distances, pleasantly quiet. Creative mini golf course within walking distance, World Heritage visitor centre next door.

5-star site known from the TV show "Tietjen campt": sandy beach, water-ski course, first-class washroom and wonderful silence. Pitches are tight for a 6.5 m motorhome – ask for a larger pitch when booking.
From the report: By motorhome to the Baltic Sea, Elbe, and Harz Show on map
€5 per night (our price in 2012 – incl. electricity)

On the edge of Minden right on the Weser, room for about 100 vehicles, paved and without marked pitches. Spacious and quiet as long as there is no festival nearby. Unfortunately the service point was not very clean. We stayed here in 2010 and 2012.
€17.50 per night (2026 price for 2 people)
Paved area and a large meadow for around 300 motorhomes at the Schiedersee near Lügde – ideal for meet-ups, free choice of pitch. A paradise for children with playgrounds and a pool. Very friendly, helpful warden. We organised a motorhome meet-up here at Whitsun 2010.
€6 per night (our price in 2010 – 24 hours incl. waste disposal, 3 days €15; electricity and water extra)

Small site on a former farm right on the Weser. Very obliging, helpful and friendly owners.
€8 per night (our price in 2011 – incl. electricity and service point)
In green surroundings at a sports ground, check-in at the clubhouse. You hear nothing from the sports ground, a little from the nearby main road. Bread rolls at the petrol station (800 m). We liked it so much we stayed until Monday. Handy after shopping at Obelink in Winterswijk – overnight stays are no longer allowed there.
€8 per night (our price in 2012 – incl. electricity, plus tourist tax €3.20 per person (winter))
Idyllic on the edge of the forest, screened all round and quiet, grass or gravel. Directions: from the motorway pass the thermal baths, then take the next right towards the clinic – the GPS data in apps is wrong. With the spa card the bus into town is free; Vitasol baths 3 minutes' walk.

€12 per night (our price in 2014 – for 24 hours, everything incl. electricity)

€10 per night (our price in 2015 – per 24 hours incl. rubbish disposal, electricity €0.50 per kWh)
Green surroundings right on the Rhine yet central, around 65 pitches, open all year. 10 minutes by train to the city centre, Cologne Zoo 2 km. Book at weekends. The nearest supermarket is too far to walk – stock up beforehand.
€5 per night (our price in 2015)
On the edge of Zons, electricity at the post. Careful with the very steep entrance: vehicles with a long overhang scrape – we only got down with the air suspension fully raised.
€20 per night
Right on the Dutch border, grass and other surfaces, arrival possible at any time, service point suitable for large motorhomes too. Note: our satnav took us 5 km along a narrow single-track farm road – better follow the signs.
€10 per night (now €10, electricity €1 for 1.2 kWh, water €1 per 100 l)
Quiet yet central with a view of the Rhine, right by the historic old town; the facilities left nothing to be desired. Starting point for the Andernach Geyser, the highest cold-water geyser in the world.

Very clean sanitary facilities (showers with chip card), family and accessible bathrooms, new pool and sauna. From here we did a day trip to Prague.
From the report: Elbe Sandstone Mountains 2012 Website ↗ Show on map

From the report: By motorhome to the Baltic Sea, Elbe, and Harz Show on map
€5 per night (our price in 2011 – per entry through the barrier, electricity €1 per kWh)

From the report: By motorhome to the Baltic Sea, Elbe, and Harz Show on map
€25 per night (2026 price for 2 people: €25 shoulder season, €29 May/June, €32 July/August; electricity extra)
A week in October, sheltered from the wind in the dunes, about 6 km from Westerland and 4 km from Kampen. A long wooden boardwalk through the dunes to the beach. Tip: arriving by ferry via Rømø was much cheaper for our motorhome than the car train.
€16.50 per night (our price in 2012 – incl. unlimited electricity (6 A))
Idyllic and very quiet by the dyke. Generous pitches separated by hedges, showers, toilets and hotplates available. Husum with its lovely town centre and harbour is not far. Tip for the journey: the Elbe ferry Wischhafen–Glückstadt.
€10 per night (our price in 2012 – ticket at the machine)
27 pitches right on the Kiel Canal for ship-spotting, also for large vehicles. No toilets or showers, service point available. The free canal ferry to Rendsburg is only 500 m away, from there 2.7 km to the centre.

Right on the Baltic with pitches by the water, most with fresh water, waste water and electricity connections. Own indoor pool with lifeguard, large supermarket with bakery and butcher, heated washrooms with showers without coins. A tree blocked access to our pitch – we were allowed to choose another one without fuss. Eckernförde and Damp nearby.
€10 per night (our price in 2022 – no services at all)
Handy for a visit to the strawberry farm, but not nice: muddy in the rain, no electricity and no water – overpriced at €10.
€14 per night (our price in 2022 – at the machine, no electricity or water)
Separate motorhome area in the coach and car park – you are probably paying for the great location on the Baltic. Promenade, harbour, U-995 submarine and memorial close by.

Quiet and idyllic among tall trees next to the indoor pool, firm level ground, working service point. Neumünster zoo about 1.3 km away.

Close to the centre yet quiet on the edge of town, pitch with electricity on the meadow. The castle, old town and Victorian market are within walking distance.
£20 per night (without electricity)
Basic site for one night after driving the single-track roads: no electricity, showers and toilets available but no luxury. The owner was nowhere to be seen; we paid a lady on site. Cows roam freely everywhere.
£22 per night (all inclusive)
Beautiful site right on the cliff with a great view from the motorhome – we stayed for the weekend. Beach, Smoo Cave and the hot chocolate at Cacao Mountain close by.
£24 per night (incl. electricity and showers)
Right in the village. Reception is only staffed from 3 to 5 p.m. – according to the sign, just pick a free pitch and pay later. Lovely promenade along the harbour.
£29 per night (with ADAC discount)
Very nice site on the edge of town with very clean showers; service point easy to reach. Choose your own pitch and give the number at reception. Note: don't leave bikes or scooters outside overnight – they tend to get stolen here.
€26 per night (about €26 to €35 for 2 people, electricity extra (figure uncertain))
Showers, toilets and a washing-up kitchen. Right next to the swimming pool, which guests of the site can use, and by the large pond for a walk round or a boat trip. The old town with its 14 churches is worth seeing. We were here at Whitsun 2009 for a motorhome meet-up.
