In March 2010 we spent a few days in Italy looking for a boat – via snowy Switzerland to Milan, Bologna and Lake Garda.

In March we spent a few days in Italy in order to buy a boat.

As our first stop was near Milan, our route went from Germany via Austria and on through Switzerland. In Germany the weather was still very fresh, but dry and sunny.

In Switzerland we suddenly found ourselves in the middle of the snow – fortunately we still had our winter tyres on. Further down in the valley the snow turned to rain. After our first appointments in Milan, we went on to Bologna, where we stayed for a few days at the "Città di Bologna" campsite. The site accepts Camping Cheques and the shower block is super clean. A bus stops in front of the site and takes you straight into the city. The next day we started with a tour of the city. The weather was sunny and already really warm.

After a few days we moved on to Lake Garda, heading for Bardolino. We went to the Cisano campsite, which also accepts Camping Cheques at this time of year. But as only pitches in the second row can be used with them, we paid the full price: 23 euros – and that in the low season.

The Lake Garda area is very beautiful, but the weather changes incredibly quickly.

PS: We did find a boat in Italy.
