A brief verdict on the trip and Mein Schiff: AIDA and TUI can't really be compared directly, as the concepts differ considerably. The cabins on Mein Schiff 4 are larger and nicer than on AIDA ships, which surprised us a lot. We really liked the all-inclusive offer, as we didn't constantly have to pull out the card. We also liked the ship's open-plan concept better than AIDA's. On AIDA the bars are more separated and cut off from each other, whereas on TUI the individual areas flow into each other. Right at the start of the trip it was pointed out that reserving loungers at the pool isn't tolerated on Mein Schiff and the towels will be collected. We like AIDA's shore excursions considerably better, and we also noticed that some TUI staff can't handle criticism (even though we were asked for it) and then tried to talk their way out of it. TUI should work on that. But we're not saying we'll only sail with TUI from now on – we'll decide depending on the routes.
