Over Christmas and New Year 2009/10 we went on a skiing holiday. Our destination was the village of Balderschwang in the Oberallgäu. On the way we met up with our family and drove south together. The first mountains made us even more excited.
The motorhome pitch at the Hotel Schwabenhof is right next to a ski slope and, besides the lovely view, also offers a ski cellar that can be used free of charge.
After arriving, we first had something tasty to drink. The owners had a lot of clearing to do because of the enormous amount of snow.
Balderschwang offers everything from beginner slopes to blue, red and black runs. There are also chairlifts and drag lifts. The prices are very reasonable: a family day pass for all lifts costs only 28 euros.
The terrace of the Hotel Schwabenhof invites you to linger.
The Schwabenhof itself offers various activities, e.g. a night hike with torches to a party. We took part and it was great.
There are various hiking trails right on the doorstep.
We would definitely come back.
Over Christmas and New Year, be sure to book in advance.
