Bremerhaven has done a lot for tourism in recent years, with new attractions such as the Klimahaus and the Havenwelten. There are four motorhome pitches in Bremerhaven itself; the "Doppelschleuse" pitch is very central and therefore a good starting point for exploring.
The pitch is right next to a double lock and the Weser. As the pitch lies a little lower, it is sheltered from the wind. We travelled at the end of December. The pitches are divided by hedges and all have a solid surface.
The pitch has a nice, clean shower block with toilets and showers. 5 minutes of hot water cost 50 cents. You have to leave a 20-euro deposit for the key with the site warden. There are around 60 pitches with electricity from coin machines; 1 kWh costs 50 cents. Fresh water and waste disposal are available. There is also a bread roll service from the site staff and a tourist information terminal.
The double lock offers lots of opportunities to watch ships passing through, especially in summer.
