Over the long November weekend we went to Ganderkesee, with trips to Oldenburg and Bremen. We had already reserved a pitch at the Falkensteinsee campsite in advance. Reserving online was very straightforward and easy. The campsite itself is about 5 kilometres from Ganderkesee, right on a lake.

The next day our first trip took us to Oldenburg for strolling and shopping. In glorious sunshine we reached Oldenburg, about 20 kilometres away. Oldenburg has lots of sights – just take a look at the website https://www.oldenburg-tourismus.de/oldenburg-entdecken/sehenswuerdigkeiten. We simply let ourselves drift and discovered the city for ourselves.

Our next trip went to Bremen. Our destination was the Schnoor quarter and the Freimarkt. Bremen impresses with its glorious architecture, with the stalls right in the middle. We had our coffee at Minkens – a very nice café with coffee and cake as well as hot meals (Unser Lieben Frauen Kirchhof 27, 28195 Bremen).

The Schnoor quarter is always worth a visit – just let yourself drift through the narrow lanes. Of course a visit to the year-round Christmas shop is a must.

The campsite offers every amenity you could wish for: electricity and water right at the pitch, top washrooms (showers paid by card), a large restaurant and a small grocery shop with a bread roll service. We would recommend the site without reservation for its surroundings and facilities, but two things bothered us personally. That weekend there were lots of groups on the campsite, which made it noisier and more restless (though quiet at night). Unfortunately the campsite has extremely poor mobile reception (we have Telekom/O2 and Vodafone). As we sometimes have to work on the road, that was very difficult for us.
