This year's Christmas tour began in Hameln. The motorhome pitch in the Pied Piper town is right on the Weser, and the centre is only a 5-minute walk away.

The pitch offers electricity (8 hours / 1 euro), fresh water and free waste disposal. It costs 8 euros per night at the parking machine. Because of the persistent rain, we spent the first evening in the motorhome with some very dear people. The evening went on for a long time, and we didn't wake up again until 11.45 a.m.! Hameln's town centre invites you to stroll around. The pedestrian zone is lined with old buildings. At its heart is the town hall with its glockenspiel. The Christmas market with its many stalls around the town hall invites you to linger.

Hameln's centre has been enhanced by a new shopping centre, which has lots of small shops under one roof. On the Saturday before Christmas the centre was open until midnight, and we made the most of it. Music in the centre set the scene for a great evening. A walk along the Weser gives you lovely impressions of Hameln. On Sunday, Bad Oeynhausen was our next stop. But the motorhome pitch we went to didn't live up to our expectations: 4 spaces for motorhomes in a public car park right next to the railway line. So we left Bad Oeynhausen again and headed for Bad Salzuflen.

The Flachsheide motorhome pitch, which we already knew and which has won several awards, offers every comfort. An overnight stay including electricity for 2 people costs 13.80 euros. At Christmas there was even a Christmas tree on the pitch.

The Vitasol pool is near the pitch, and we paid it a visit that afternoon.

On Monday shopping was on the agenda, and the Werre-Park in Bad Oeynhausen has everything you need. A quick hop on the motorway in the motorhome, and after 8 kilometres we were there.

After our shopping spree, we went back to the Flachsheide pitch. On Christmas Day, "relaxing" was on our schedule, and our destination was the Bali Therme in Bad Oeynhausen. The spa really has everything your heart could desire. It is decorated entirely in Indonesian style and has several pools. The sauna area is a real dream: countless relaxation areas, some with heated waterbeds, several indoor and outdoor saunas and much more. A visit is definitely worth it. A day ticket for sauna and spa cost 23 euros.

7 hours later we left the spa feeling refreshed. As we had to be home again on Boxing Day, our route slowly took us from Bad Oeynhausen towards home. We stopped overnight in Minden. The free pitch at the Kanzlerweide is quickly reached and lies right on the Weser. On Wednesday, after a great breakfast, we went home again – for 2 days :-)

Right on the Weser, only 5 minutes' walk to the centre of the Pied Piper town with its pedestrian zone, town hall with carillon and shopping centre. Lovely Christmas market at Christmas time.
