The beautifully laid-out pitch above the swimming pool is surrounded by trees. The fee for an overnight stay is 5 euros, payable at the pitch. The surface is solid and level. The pitches aren't divided into plots, so there is room for large vehicles too.

Fresh water and waste disposal are available right at the pitch (for a fee). You can shower at the nearby swimming pool. Electricity is available from coin-operated bollards. The next day we set off on the 7.5-kilometre hike to the Externsteine.

Along the spa park, we kept finding new, lovely and funny details. Balou took the opportunity to cool his feet after the long hike. We reached the Externsteine after a good 1.5 hours. The rock formations are up to 40 metres high and are among Germany's best-known natural monuments.

The climb costs 3 euros per person (adults, 2015). The women took the opportunity to enjoy a great view. More information here.

To get back, you can take bus line 792 right from the information centre. Get off at the bus station in Bad Meinberg, and from there it's only a 10-minute walk to the motorhome pitch.
