Our tour began in the Emsland.

After another 70 kilometres we reached the CentrO in Oberhausen. Right on Allee-Straße there is a Lidl that you can drive into with a motorhome, so first of all we stocked up on food.

We had read beforehand that motorhomes can park in car parks 9 and 10, and we weren't the only ones – about 20 other motorhomes were already there. The pitch itself is gravel and has no electricity, fresh water or waste disposal, but staying overnight is free.

A railway line is within sight and earshot. We hardly heard the trains at night, and the next morning we went to the CentrO, just a 5-minute walk away.

On weekdays at 10 a.m. the CentrO is still nice and empty – that changed from 12 noon.

At Christmas it is beautifully decorated. The Christmas market in front of the CentrO is definitely worth a visit. The illuminated gasometer looks great. In the evening we ate at the pancake house right by the CentrO. Very tasty and recommendable.

The next day it rained. So we packed our swimming things and went to the Aquapark, a 15-minute walk away. A great pool with indoor and outdoor pools, long slides and several whirlpools. Admission for 4 hours: 8.50 euros per person.

In the afternoon it was time to leave and head for our next destination, Cologne.
