We came from Heidelberg 2020.
We found a lovely quiet campsite in Wiesbaden: the Maaraue campsite, with a view of the Rhine and not far from Mainz city centre. The operators are very nice, and a small camping shop rounds off the picture.
Cost per night with electricity: 28.50 euros.
The city centre is only 10 minutes away by bike. Of course the cathedral is a must.
After 4 days we went home again, as the holiday was over.
Our decision to switch from a big motorhome to a camper van was exactly right, and this holiday proved it. We are more flexible, can be more spontaneous, and our van is suitable for towns.
