Before this we had been in Nordstrand / Husum.
The Schacht-Audorf pitch on the Kiel Canal was our next destination.
The pitch has space for 27 motorhomes to watch the ships go by. It costs 10 euros, payable by ticket at the machine. There are no toilets or showers, but there is fresh water and waste disposal. The pitch is also accessible for large vehicles. After a bit of ship-watching, we set off for the next big town, Rendsburg. As our destination was on the other side of the canal, we had to cross by ferry, only 500 metres away.
The free crossing takes less than 3 minutes, and you're in the outskirts of Rendsburg. We wanted to go on into the town centre, simply followed the road and reached the centre after 2.7 km.
The town centre with its partly historic houses is lovely to look at. The theatre directly opposite the town park is a wonderful backdrop. Small sculptures line the paths and accompany you through the centre. After a great, relaxed afternoon strolling around town, we walked the 3.2 km back to the pitch.
The nearest shops (Aldi, Lidl etc.) are 1.2 km away. After 2 days with the ships, wellness was now on our to-do list. After 64 km we reached the Holstentherme in Kaltenkirchen.
We continued via Kaltenkirchen to Lüneburg.
