Our motorhome tour took us to Amsterdam, where we stayed at the Zeeburg campsite. The site is a little outside the city centre but wonderfully located on the water, with a relaxed, international atmosphere. By tram, which stops very close by, you can reach the centre in just a few minutes – ideal for exploring the city stress-free.
One of our highlights was a visit to Madame Tussauds right on Dam Square. There you immerse yourself in different worlds: in the music section we suddenly found ourselves standing next to Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande or Beyoncé, and in the film and Hollywood section we met superheroes and film icons. Particularly impressive was the section on Dutch history and culture, where you meet artists such as Rembrandt and Van Gogh or members of the royal family. In the sports section we could measure ourselves against stars such as Lionel Messi or Dutch legends. There are interactive stations everywhere – you can pose, join in and get creative. That resulted in lots of funny souvenir photos.
Of course a walk along the canals couldn't be missed. By the water Amsterdam shows itself from its most beautiful side: narrow gabled houses, countless bridges and lively bustle along the banks.
All in all, it was a perfect mix of relaxed camping and exciting city exploration – with lots of impressions that will stay with us for a long time.
