This opinion of course reflects my personal experience.

After another relaxing sea day we reached Tenerife. Here we had booked the excursion to Loro Parque through AIDA in advance. At 8.45 a.m. sharp our bus left, and 45 minutes later we reached the park. As we arrived very early, we could watch the sea lion show at 9.45 a.m. straight away. The dolphin and orca shows completed the picture.

The park is in the town of Puerto de la Cruz and is one of the most visited attractions on the island. It was founded in 1972 by the German entrepreneur Wolfgang Kiessling and over the years has developed into a world-renowned institution for animal care, conservation and environmental education. However, there are also critical voices about the park from time to time.

As well as parrots, there are numerous other species, such as:

  • dolphins
  • turtles
  • tigers
  • lions
  • orcas
  • penguins

And many more.

Right near the park, at the end of the road, we discovered this beautiful cliff coast. Simply take the road opposite the park down to the sea.

At 2.15 p.m. we went back to AIDAcosma.

We didn't book an excursion here and simply walked into town – reachable on foot in 15 minutes – and looked at the narrow lanes there. In addition, there was a general strike by the bus companies in Spain at the time, so no excursions were possible.

Our last stop on this trip was Lanzarote. Lanzarote is the north-easternmost of the seven main Canary Islands and belongs to Spain. The island lies in the Atlantic Ocean, about 140 kilometres west of the Moroccan coast. Known for its volcanic landscapes, beaches and unique ecosystem, Lanzarote attracts numerous visitors every year.

Here too we couldn't do an excursion (general strike), so our destination was the capital, within walking distance. In the lanes we discovered a small shop where, among other things, fresh almonds are prepared. A clear recommendation to take a small bag with you.

After a wonderful sunny and warm day, we went back to the ship.

As a little highlight, AIDA offered suite guests a theatre tour. After a welcome with drinks and finger food, we went behind the scenes of the theatre.

Because it was a special time for us, we had booked an upgraded cabin. Cabin 9323 at the stern with a large balcony leaves nothing to be desired: a bathroom with a whirlpool bath, 2 washbasins, a separate toilet, a living room and a bedroom with a dressing room. A highlight is the option of having breakfast in the cabin.
