Day 4: Boat trip on the Geirangerfjord
On the third day of our exciting Norway trip, an absolute highlight was on the programme: a boat trip on the breathtaking Geirangerfjord. The AIDA excursion started early, and the bus took us straight to the fjord. At the port of Geiranger our boat was already waiting for us.
The trip began under a brilliant blue sky, which made the majestic peaks surrounding the fjord look particularly impressive. The fresh mountain air and the anticipation in the group made for a great atmosphere.
As we sailed along the fjord, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of nature. Steep rock faces covered in green moss rose out of the water, and numerous waterfalls poured into the fjord. The sight of the "Seven Sisters" waterfall, whose waters plunge down the mountain in seven separate cascades, was without doubt a highlight.
Our captain and guide told us fascinating stories about the history and legends of the Geirangerfjord. We learned about the tales of trolls and the hard life of the early settlers in this remote region.
The boat trip on the Geirangerfjord will stay in our memories for a long time because of its breathtaking nature and fascinating stories. It was a day full of wonder and magic in the midst of the Norwegian fjord landscape.
On the next day of our Norway trip we had the pleasure of exploring the picturesque town of Ålesund. To make the most of our visit, we chose a hop-on hop-off bus tour, which gave us the freedom to explore the town's sights at our own pace. At around 30 euros per person, it seemed an excellent deal.
Our tour began at the port of Ålesund, where we got onto the comfortable bus. The friendly guide gave us a warm welcome and handed us headphones for the audio commentary in our language.
As we drove through the charming streets of Ålesund, we learned a lot about the town's history and culture. The audio commentary was informative and easy to understand. The ride took us to the most important sights, including the Art Nouveau quarter with its ornately designed buildings, the Ålesund aquarium and the Aksla viewpoint, from which we had a breathtaking view of the town and the surrounding fjords.
