Day 1
We flew from Frankfurt via Doha with Qatar Airways. Right there in Frankfurt we met Sabine and Hajo, who were also on their way to Bangkok for the AIDA Southeast Asia 10 cruise. Before take-off we fortified ourselves with giant burgers.
We had a really great plane with lots of legroom and an individual multimedia centre at every seat. Over 200 films, various games and other programmes made the flight more enjoyable. After 6 hours we reached Doha airport in Qatar. Now it was a matter of studying the departure board, waiting 2 hours, changing planes and flying on to Bangkok.
Once again we had booked the travel package through AIDA, and as always everything worked perfectly. Take your suitcase off the belt and simply follow the AIDA signs. We handed our suitcases over at the AIDA bus and off we went to the ship. AIDAaura was in Laem Chabang, about 2 hours by bus from Bangkok.
Even on the bus ride we got great impressions of the country, especially the road traffic and the driving style, which seems chaotic to Germans.
After check-in we saw our lovely cabin for the next two weeks: an outside cabin (number 4117) with a large window, desk, armchair, table and sofa.
A short breather, and then we set off to explore the ship, as AIDAaura was new to us. Everything is smaller and more manageable than on AIDAmar, but in some ways we find it nicer. We think the shopping area in particular is better designed and more inviting.
Although we were completely tired from the 6-hour time difference, we couldn't go to bed yet, as we had arranged to meet Anja and Matthias in the AIDA Bar at 10 p.m.
The tiredness vanished when we met up. The first cocktails flowed, and it got late (or early), but it was a great evening.
