Day 7 / 30 degrees / 201 nautical miles / 373 km

At 5 a.m. we reached the port of Port Klang in Malaysia. No, today's excursion didn't start that early.

We only noticed the docking because the noise of mooring the ship at the pier can be heard clearly in our cabin. It didn't bother us, though.

At 8.30 a.m. we took the bus organised by AIDA to Kuala Lumpur. The 1.5-hour bus ride along the very interesting (very bumpy) road was pleasant. Our first destination on excursion KUL04 was the Batu Caves.

Visiting the cave complex is something very special, but also very challenging. The cave entrance is reached via a steep staircase with 272 steps. Once at the top, the first view is breathtaking. The climb itself is brightened up by little monkeys sitting at the side of the stairs, waiting for some food (or simply helping themselves).

A little tip: the air is always very oppressive and humid, so it's a good idea to pack a spare T-shirt and a towel. The climb and the heat make you sweat a lot.

After 60 minutes we continued by bus to a pewter factory, where the whole process of making individual items was shown.

Our personal opinion: you can see it, but you don't have to. A big advantage was the free Wi-Fi.

Next stop: the Petronas Twin Towers and lunch in a restaurant.

After a hearty meal with live music, a short time later we reached the KL Tower in Kuala Lumpur. At 421 metres, the tower is only a few metres shorter than the Twin Towers.

The high-speed lift took us to the observation deck at 272 metres in 58 seconds. At the top we had a great view over Kuala Lumpur. Then on to Independence Square. This historic square was also our last stop in the city. After 8 hours we were back on the ship.
