1.5 days later we arrived in Cozumel, Mexico. Our day began at 5 a.m., as our booked excursion started at 6.30 a.m.
We took the ferry across to the mainland. The crossing only took 40 minutes and offered great views.
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by our guide for the day. Our AIDA scout Lisa was with us too and was on hand to answer all our questions.
Then we continued by bus. The bus itself was state of the art, but the legroom was a joke and not designed for Europeans. At a normal height of 183 cm, your knees pressed into the seat in front when you sat down. Luckily the bus ride only took 3 hours...
On arrival we received our tickets for the park, and off we went.
The guided tour lasted about 2 hours, and afterwards there was plenty of free time.
There was a lunch buffet for participants at the hotel. The pyramids are very impressive and wonderful to see. The time in the park is more than enough – if anything too long, as we had to wait another 1.5 hours for the bus.
When we arrived at the ferry terminal, we could count ourselves lucky that we had booked the trip through AIDA. There were queues of people as far as the eye could see, all wanting to take the ferry. AIDA had a whole ferry to ourselves, so we could walk past everyone straight onto the ferry.
There was a bar on board too, and the Sex on the Beach for 6 dollars was super delicious.
At 8 p.m. it was time to weigh anchor and say goodbye to Mexico.
