Two days later AIDAvita arrived in the port of Key West. After the face check by the border police had gone smoothly, we could leave the ship: 27 degrees, sunshine – and don't forget, it was 24 December.

First we explored the beautiful streets and simply strolled around.

Our destination was then a beach on the Atlantic for a swim in the sea. After dipping our feet in the water, we quickly realised: too cold.

Because of the strong wind, the water was so churned up that it was simply too cold. So we just sat down in the beach bar and enjoyed the view.

Of course we had to visit the southernmost point of the USA – the huge queue in front of it had the same idea.

On the way back we stopped at a bar to eat and realised: this is a real sports bar.
There were screens all over the walls showing all sorts of sports programmes.

At 4 p.m. the ship set sail again.

Key West said goodbye with a wonderful sunset.
