This was the first time AIDA had sailed this route, so it was a premiere. The tour and the chosen destinations are great. But in Miami the authorities are so strict that every guest has to go through customs personally with their luggage by 10 a.m. on departure. After that you're no longer allowed back on the ship, so every guest is in the terminal by 10 a.m. at the latest – regardless of whether the return flight leaves at 1 p.m. or 9 p.m. AIDA suggested we explore a bit more of Miami, but unfortunately it was Christmas Day and all the shops were closed.

Because of all this, we had booked the excursion MIA01A through AIDA for the last day.

At 9 a.m. the bus took us on a sightseeing tour, past the homes of the rich and famous until we finally reached Miami Beach.

After an hour of free time, we were dropped off at the airport at 12 noon sharp.

Our journey home wasn't exactly relaxing. We had booked the complete package through the travel agency, but unfortunately they thought routing us from Miami via Atlanta and Amsterdam to Hanover was almost the direct route.

But eventually that was over too, and we learned from it.

We'll book AIDA again, but we'll take care of the flights ourselves.
