In 2018 our holiday finally took us to the Caribbean. Planning began several months beforehand, and we got lots of information in the Facebook groups. On Sunday we set off for Düsseldorf airport, just as the first snow fell in Germany. The non-stop flight to Montego Bay was calm and not as tiring as we had expected.

AIDA had organised the arrival in Montego Bay superbly: luggage was delivered straight from the plane to the ship and to our cabin – great service. So 45 minutes after landing we were already on AIDAluna.

The first sight of an AIDA ship is always wonderful.

Our cabin was already ready, and less than 60 minutes later our suitcases were outside the door. Now the challenge was to stay awake, as the tiredness from the time difference was slowly making itself felt.

In the evening, as always, we had our holiday cocktail, and after the safety drill AIDAluna cast off at 10.15 p.m. and set course for Grand Turk.

As it's over 400 nautical miles to Grand Turk, we first had a sea day – pure relaxation – and we could marvel at the first sunrise. At 27 degrees, temperatures were a little higher than the 2 degrees in Germany.

At 11 a.m. we had our fan meeting, which we had been planning for several months.

Our entertainment manager Kris Broderick welcomed the guests and, after a few words, handed the mic...

... to me, as we had organised the meeting, and we were allowed (or had) to say a few words too – but they weren't long, so...

... the glasses were quickly raised for a toast. It's great that AIDA always supports us with meetings like this, provides the venue and sponsors the drinks.
