AIDA North Cape 2023

Two winter weeks on AIDAmar from Hamburg to the far north: Haugesund, the Saltstraumen near Bodø, the ice hotel in Alta, the North Cape from the sea, husky sledding in Tromsø – and the northern lights.

On this trip we could travel to the ship in a very relaxed way and even sleep in on the day of departure. At 11 a.m. we left home and drove to Hamburg.

Our check-in was at 2.30 p.m. By 1 p.m. we had already reached the car park, which we had booked online in advance with "Parken und Meer": 162 euros for 14 days in the guarded car park in Steinwerder.

Our ship was in Altona, and a shuttle took us straight to it.

Loaded with suitcases, we quickly made our way to the ship. Because of the low temperatures in the far north, we had to bring warm winter clothing. So it was great that we could drive to AIDA's port of departure.

Our cabin on deck 7 was already ready, and as usual we didn't need to carry our suitcases to the cabin ourselves – the crew took care of that.

We were very excited about this trip, as it was our first cruise to the far north.

We already had a little highlight at 6 p.m.: our sister ship AIDAprima cast off in Steinwerder and sailed right past us. The greeting between the two ships was warm and accompanied by lots of hooting.
