The masses of snow could be seen on deck too, and because of the constant swell, the special blue bags were put out as a precaution.

The next day we called at Trondheim. Here too we went on foot and explored the city and surroundings on our own.

Trondheim is the third-largest city in the country. It lies in the heart of Trøndelag.
Here's some information about Trondheim:

Trondheim has a long history and was once the capital of Norway. The city was founded in the 10th century and was the political and religious centre of the country for several centuries. Today you can still visit many historic buildings and monuments that recall the city's past.

Nidaros Cathedral is one of the best-known sights in Trondheim. It's an impressive Gothic cathedral that was begun in the 11th century. The cathedral is Norway's national sanctuary and houses the shrine of Saint Olav, the country's patron saint.

Trondheim's old town, also called Bakklandet, is a picturesque district with well-preserved wooden houses and cobbled streets. Here you'll find charming cafés, restaurants and boutiques. The famous Gamle Bybro, an old bridge over the Nidelva river, is a landmark of the city.

Kristiansten Fortress towers above the city and offers a spectacular view of Trondheim. The fortress was built in the 17th century and once served as a defensive structure. Today you can explore the well-preserved walls and enjoy the view from the platform.
