The next day brought our last stop on this trip: Ålesund.
Ålesund is a Norwegian town on the west coast of the country.
Here's some information about Ålesund:
Ålesund is known for its unique Art Nouveau architecture. Most of the town was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1904 and then rebuilt in Art Nouveau style.
Ålesund is the gateway to the Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region is surrounded by breathtaking nature, with deep fjords, majestic mountains and picturesque islands.
Atlanterhavsparken is an impressive aquarium in Ålesund. It's one of the largest saltwater aquariums in Northern Europe and is home to a wide variety of marine life, including fish, seals and penguins. Visitors can explore the underwater world and take part in interactive activities. We didn't visit the aquarium – we didn't have time.
Ålesund offers several viewpoints from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the town and the surrounding landscape. One of the best known is Mount Aksla, which can be reached via over 400 steps and offers a breathtaking panoramic view.
The farewell party is always impressive, and the culinary delights wonderful.
After a great sea day we reached our starting point, Hamburg, again.
Although we didn't see any lights in the sky on our northern lights excursion, the impressive lights could be admired on the following 4 days of our trip.
A wonderful trip comes to an end.
